Electricity has been restored to 65 homes in Sittingbourne affected by 19-hour power cut.

The homes, which are in the Eden Village area, were plunged into darkness at 5pm yesterday following the heavy snow.

Some homes were reconnected before midnight but most remained without power until 1pm today.

An EDF Energy spokesman said the roads affected included Daisy Walk, Bluebell Drive, Carnation Crescent and Crocus Drive.

He said: "We apologise to customers affected by this fault. We do appreciate how inconvenient and frustrating it is to be without power supplies."

In a separate development, the extreme weather had seen rationing introduced at the Co-op in Northwood Drive.

Customers have been limited to one loaf of bread and one four-pint bottle of milk.
