Woman seriously injured after being knocked off bike by lorry in Eurolink Way in Sittingbourne

A cyclist has suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car transporter in Sittingbourne today.

The woman, 58, was badly hurt when she is believed to have fallen into the side of the lorry in Eurolink Way at about 11.40am.

She was taken to King's College Hospital, in London, after the accident on the industrial estate.

The road was closed by police at the junction with Crown Quay Lane and Milton Road.

Officers remained at the scene this afternoon and the road was expected to be closed for several hours.

Witnesses said an ambulance as well as three medical cars attended the scene along with four police cars.

Officers were called to reports a local woman riding a push bike was in collision with a green Scania 340 car transporter.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are urged to phone the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.
