Rodmersham Primary School is a step closer to getting a new library after a successful school fete at the weekend.
The money is still being counted, but it’s estimated Sunday’s fundraiser collected between £3,000 and £4,000.
A target of £5,000 has been set for the library, a figure it is hoped will be reached with a comedy night at the village hall on Friday.
The fete featured a fun and varied itinerary including games of welly throwing and beat the goalie. There was also a makeover tent for girls to be turned into Frozen princesses in honour of the Disney film.
A putting green was among the other highlights and a colourfully-titled game, Splat a Rat, which involved mallet-wielding participants trying to smash a fake rodent as it emerged from a tube.
Laura Toon, a member of the Friends of Rodmersham School fundraising committee said: “It went really, really well.
“I’d like to say thanks to the teachers for their support and parents who volunteered, some of whom turned up at 7am to help us out.
“Friday’s comedy night should get us over the line as far as the fundraising target is concerned.
“The Joke Klub will be coming from London with two professional, and two up-and-coming comedians so it should be a wicked night.”
The comedy night will be at Rodmersham Village Hall, from 8pm on Friday.
Tickets are available from the school on 01795 423776.
