Flower arrangements with musical connections was the theme of a colourful flower festival at Holy Trinity Church in Milton Regis.

Greatly enjoyed by all who attended, said parish priest Fr Lorne Denny, subjects included ‘O Rosemary I love you’ and ‘Food Glorious Food’ which included bright flowers, fruit and vegetables in the arrangement.

There were plenty of entries for the event, the first of its kind at Holy Trinity for four years, and a steady stream of visitors over the two days.

He said: "The flowers were in lovely colours and they really brightened up the church."

A non floral centrepiece made its debut at the festival – a large wooden model of the church made by warden Bernard Fagg, into which visitors were able to make donations towards the church tower appeal.

As yet, the money collected is still to be counted.

The church is working hard to raise £55,000 towards the cost of repairing its tower on top of a £110,000 grant from English Heriatge and the recent promise of £10,000 from the Sittingbourne Civic Society through its John Jordan Trust fund.

The next church tower fundraiser will be the annual summer fete on Saturday July 18 in the parish hall in Green Porch Close, next to the church, from 1pm.

Attractions will include a bellringing demonstration and a large tombola sponsored by the local Co-op supermarket.
