Fans donated 65 football shirts to support disadvantaged children around the world.

Doves Funeral Directors, based in East Street, Sittingbourne, launched the Pitch In! appeal to support Kits4Causes.

It aims to help as many education projects around the world as possible to achieve their goals through the sport.

The campaign saw town residents handing over Sittingbourne FC strips as well as others belonging to local amateur teams and Premier League clubs plus items such as baseball caps, shorts and sweatshirts.

Funeral director Karon Child said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of local football fans, grassroots teams and youth groups in the town.

“The shirts and kits that they’ve donated may have been unwanted over here, but they will mean the world to countless children in developing countries.”

Since its launch, the charity has worked with more than 50 international aid organisations in 26 different countries, distributing UK-donated football kits to 27,000 people worldwide.
