Youngsters arrived in their droves to enjoy a special fun day at Sittingbourne Library.

More than 50 children enjoyed arts and crafts, book-making activities, and games at the start of the schools’ Easter holidays.

The Library Lion, which is the centre’s mascot, also made an appearance to task the young visitors with a very important job.

They were asked to design a potential new mascot with the Library Lion choosing the winners.

Customer service development librarian Jenny House said: It was lovely to talk to the visitors about our new children’s area – they loved the colours and thought it looked really fresh and airy.

“The day was also about trying to get people that have not used the library before to come in and see what we have to offer.”

It now boasts a community room available for local groups and clubs. For more details, call Miss House on 03000 417869.
