Festive spirit will be injected into Sittingbourne High Street this weekend with the switch-on of the Christmas lights.

The fun starts at 10.30am tomorrow with a fair featuring a range of attractions, including artists, bakers and trade stalls.

There will be a stage for musicians and a choir throughout the day and street entertainers will be walking through the crowds.

Santa will be in his grotto at The pART project shop in The Forum shopping centre between 11am and 2pm before setting off on his parade at 3pm.

He will then turn on the lights at 4pm with the help of two pupils from Minterne Junior School.

The Friends team will also be in town fundraising for the Wisdom Hospice.

They will be based outside the Wisdom and Heart Shop between 10am and 4pm, giving out flyers and raising awareness.

The charity’s mascot, Olly the Owl, is also expected to make an appearance.
