Forensic officers have been combing a Sittingbourne home for clues after a 63-year-old man was found with a serious head injury.

Officers were called to Ambleside, off Vincent Road, at 6.35pm on Saturday after the man was found by a family member who had called in to see him.

The man was taken to King’s College Hospital where he was described as being in a serious condition.

Neighbours say that at one point there were up to seven police vans in the close as officers combed the property for clues.

At the time of going to press, police tape still sealed off the front of the house and it remained under police guard.

Although it is unclear how the injury was caused some residents are concerned for their safety. One neighbour said: "There’s a lot of old people in the area and it’s the not knowing that is worrying."

Police, who have not revealed the man’s name, were keen to speak to him in hospital to discover more about what had happened inside the house.
