Helicopter search over Sittingbourne for elderly woman

The police helicopter was launched last night in a bid to find an elderly woman.

Officers received reports the woman was seen in a "confused state" near Conqueror Court, Sittingbourne, shortly after 5pm.

Witnesses reported seeing the chopper circling over the Sonora Fields estate in Sittingbourne and reported hearing a few sirens in the area.

This morning, police confirmed the helicopter has been launched in an effort to locate the woman.

Richard Spillett, spokesman for police said: "Kent Police was called at 5.10pm after an elderly woman was reportedly seen in a confused state in Conqueror Court, Sittingbourne.

"Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, which was assisted by a police helicopter. "The woman was not located and the search was concluded at 8.55pm."

It is understood no one matching the woman's description has been reported missing from the area.
