Power cut affects homes across Sittingbourne

At least 159 homes and businesses have been affected by a power cut.

Lights have been off across the town for more than an hour after a fault in an underground electricity cable.

According to UK Power Network's website: "Engineers are working hard to fix it as quickly as possible.

UK Power Networks has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

"We are sorry for any trouble this may have caused you."

It is believed the source of the cut could be from the works on Chalkwell Road, with some traffic lights not working.

The power cut was first reported at 4pm today and expected to last until 6pm.
