It's around this time of year when everyone starts to speculate what will be this year's Christmas number one.

Last year's victor was Ladbaby with I Love Sausage Rolls, but previous winners have included Ed Sheeran with Perfect (2007), Leona Lewis with A Moment Like This (2006) and Slade with Merry Xmas Everybody in 1973.

Den Spillane, 73, from Hales Road, Sittingbourne, modestly suggests this year it should be a song he has written and recorded himself called Santa Don't Pass Me By.

He said: "I've written many songs, but my wife Jenny encouraged me to sing this one in a recording studio and have it produced on a CD.

"I've sent the CD to numerous radio stations to play, sadly they have all ignored me.
