Man appears in court charged with escaping from HMP Standford Hill, Sheppey

A prisoner has been charged with being unlawfully at large, a month after allegedly escaping from a Sheppey jail.

At 12.20pm on Sunday, February 13, police officers arrested James Reilly in Murston Road, Sittingbourne.

The 52-year-old, of no fixed address, is alleged to have absconded from HMP Standford Hill, on the Isle of Sheppey, on Monday, January 10,

He has been charged with being unlawfully at large.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court last Monday and will next appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 24.
