Man with a pigeon spotted at McDonald's, Sainsbury's and other locations across Sittingbourne

People have been doing a double-take after they spotted a man out and about with an unusual companion.

If you have been around Sittingbourne the past couple of days you too may have been questioning your eyesight when you saw a man with a pigeon on his shoulder.

Jody Parr-Collins took to Facebook to see if anyone else had seen the same thing.

She said: "I know this is a weird question but I saw a man driving in the Central Avenue car park this afternoon, with a pigeon sat on his shoulder.

"My family think I'm mad. Someone please tell me you saw him."

The post received much attention, with others telling of their chance encounters.

Lisa Bonser said: "Goes through Sittingbourne McDonald's often – you're not mad."

The discussion started after the man was spotted at the Central Avenue car park. Google Street View

Tia Cooper said: "I think I’ve seen him at Tesco Express before.

"My son was mesmerised by him managing to keep a pigeon so close to him and he stopped to talk as well, which was so lovely."

Gillian Covus said: "Saw him in Sainsbury's car park. My husband nearly drove into the car in front looking at him go past."

Kay Daynes soon commented to say she was related to the man who seemed to brighten everyone's day.

She said: "That’s my uncle. It’s hilarious watching him drive with the pigeon but it doesn’t leave him, and my uncle has a heart of gold bless him."

Throughout the day people have been posting their sightings of the man and all say it has made their day.

So if you're out and about in Sittingbourne soon, keep your eyes peeled as you may see one man and his pigeon.
