Fifty children helped to raise money for their school in a socially-distanced relay race.

Youngsters, aged from three to seven, ran, scooted and cycled around the streets of Sittingbourne to earn funds for The Oaks Infant School in Gore Court Road.

The event, on Saturday, July 18, was organised by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA). It covered 14.7 miles in total and has so far raised £1,190 for the school.

Danielle Cass, chair of the PTA, said: “Due to the pandemic events like the Easter egg hunt and summer fair were cancelled.

“Not only did this reduce fundraising significantly, but also meant the kids missed out on having fun.

“We hoped this would be a fun event to end a crazy year.”

She added: "They were all winners for taking part and all received a medal."
