Jogger fights for life after being hit by Mercedes on the A2 London Road in Sittingbourne

Police are appealing for information following the crash.

A jogger is fighting for his life after suffering life-threatening head injuries when he was knocked down by a car in Sittingbourne last night.

The local man, believed to be his in his 40s, was struck by the silver Mercedes CLK 320, on the A2 London Road.

It happened at about 7.05pm as he crossed the road outside the Coniston Hotel.

The man suffered life-threatening head and leg injuries and was taken to a London hospital.

The driver was not injured and no arrests have been made.

Officers closed the road at the Borden Lane and Adelaide Drive junctions for several hours until 11.05pm.

Witnesses are urged to phone the Kent Police serious collision investigation unit on 01622 798538.
