A baker, who is one of Sainsbury’s food bloggers, will be running cake-making classes in Lower Halstow in the new year.

Britt Whyatt only started learning the pastry art four years ago, but since then her skills and success have grown exponentially.

At the beginning of the year, she set up her cake-decorating business – She Who Bakes – and she now has a core of dedicated fans and 23,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook.

The 26-year-old, who has been a judge for the ITV show Britain’s Best Bakery, said: “The first cake I ever baked was four years ago and I used a packet mix. So if I can do it, anyone can.

“I used to have a magnet a friend had given me that said, ‘I only have a kitchen because it came with the house’!

“It was an accident that I started. My appendix had burst, and when I got out of hospital I was told I couldn’t go straight back to work. I was bored, started baking and got obsessed very quickly.”

Miss Whyatt, who lives in Maidstone, decided to expand her cookery empire into the education field following the popularity of her online tutorials and step-by-step recipes.

“These classes are for people that have never even touched a spatula and for people that have some experience,” she said of her new venture.

Her first all-day class will be on January 10 at The Clubhouse on Breach Lane.
