M2 re-opens after crash

Police accident

Both carriageways of the M2 have re-opened after a serious accident this afternoon.

As of 5.45pm, traffic remains heavy as far back as the Medway services while the original jam clears and one lane coastbound is still closed.

A lorry and three cars were involved in the incident, which happened just after 12.20pm between junction five, Stockbury and six, Faversham.

Police and paramedics were on the scene and a man was airlifted to hospital with leg injuries after firefighters rescued him from the lorry.

A woman and an unidentified victim were also taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford with minor injuries.

The cause of the incident is not yet known.
