Man assaulted as he walked from rail station

A 53-year-old man was badly hurt in what police believe was an unprovoked assault.

The victim was walking in an alleyway leading to the church in St Michaels Road, Sittingbourne when the incident occurred.

between 7.30pm and 8.45pm on Saturday, February 18.

Sally Smith, police media and communications officer in the Swale area, said: "It is reported that the man was walking from the train station at some stage in his travels he was hit in the face.

"The next thing the man remembers is arriving at his home in a concussed state. He had suffered swelling to his eye and bruising to his face, ribs and arms."
