Train delays after man hit by train near Sittingbourne

A man has died after being hit by a train near Sittingbourne.

A statement released by British Transport Police this morning said they had been called to the line at around 11.16pm last night, after reports of a body on the track.

It was found 150 yards away from the station on the London-bound track

When they arrived, the man had injuries "consistent with having been hit by a train".

The statement said: "Medics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended but the man, thought to be in his fifties and from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The statement said a file would be prepared for the coroner.
