Pedestrian hit by car in Murston Road, Sittingbourne

Emergency crews were called after a man was knocked down by a car in Sittingbourne.

Police and several ambulances attended the scene near the railway bridge in Murston Road, with an air ambulance landing in Rectory Road Playing Fields.

Police received the call at 11.20am.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 11.20am to a person hit by a car near the Co-op.

"We sent two ambulances and two cars and were joined by the air ambulance.

"The man, aged in his mid 20s, was fully conscious but suffering from injuries to his head and leg.

"He was taken by road to Medway Maritime Hospital."
