He had pulled over for a rest stop on Tuesday when he was approached by two men and a woman.

The dad-of-three, from Hastings, also underwent an operation on his leg.

Steph said: "It's a long journey home and he stopped. I didn't hear about it until 7.30pm.

"He just kept saying, 'I'm fine, I'm fine'. I want to warn people, I don't want this the happen to anyone else."

He was released from hospital yesterday.
