Man suffers serious head injuries

A man is being questioned by police after he was caught with an imitation firearm in Sittingbourne

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault that took place in Sittingbourne in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident happened in the alleyway between Capel Road and Roonagh Court, between 1.30am and 2.30am.

Two men were allegedly assaulted by a group of around four men and three women.

One of the injured men, a 44-year-old, received serious head injuries and is undergoing treatment at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham. He is in a serious but stable condition.

Police are also trying to locate a dark-coloured Ford Escort that was seen parked in Capel Road.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw this assault or who has any information to come forward.
