Reports man tried to encourage child to follow him in Iceland in Sittingbourne High Street

A woman says a man tried to lure her three-year-old child out of a shop.

The incident is alleged to have happened in Iceland in Sittingbourne High Street yesterday morning.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 10.41am on Monday, July 10 following a woman reporting a man approached her child inside Iceland.

“The man was alleged to have spoken to the child and encouraged the child to follow him.

“Officers attended the area and carried out enquiries, however nobody matching the description of the person was found.”

The woman says the man was just over 6ft, white, slim and was speaking with a possible eastern European accent.

Police say inquiries are ongoing.
