A mayor pulled on his boots and grabbed a shovel to plant a tree as part of National Tree Week.

The mayor of Swale, Councillor Simon Clark, planted it at Milton Creek, in Sittingbourne, on Tuesday with the help of a group of volunteers.

National Tree Week runs from Saturday, November 26 to Sunday, December 4.

This year's national theme is "hidden connections" and campaigners want to highlight the important role that urban trees have in connecting urban communities with each other as well as with nature.
