Police have confirmed a fire at a derelict care home was arson.

The A2 was closed to traffic for nine hours so firefighters could battle the blaze which started at the London Road building at 6.15am on Monday.

A spokesman for Kent police said: "We have been working with our colleagues at Kent Fire and Rescue Service and believe the fire was started deliberately. Fortunately no one was injured."
