Police are investigating reports of a sexual offence in Sittingbourne.

The alleged incident took place in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Part of Hawthorn Road, just off the town centre, is thought to have been taped-off while investigations are carried out.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 2.20am today following a report of a sexual offence in an area close to the High Street in Sittingbourne."

He said inquires were ongoing and investigations were at an early stage.
