Coffee Morning for residents in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

Absolutely brilliant! That’s how a charity coffee morning hosted by Woodstock Residential Home has been described.

About 40 residents and their family members took part in the fundraiser held at the home in Woodstock Road, Sittingbourne, on Friday, September 28.

Despite running for only 90 minutes, a total of £210.47 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

This was achieved by selling cakes made by staff, donations, guess the weight of the cake, a raffle and a memory board where, for 50p, people could pin on it the name of a lost loved one.

A tombola also raised £90 towards outings and activities for residents.

Debra Buglione, activities co-ordinator, said: “It was a fun morning. The charity is close to my heart anyway because I lost my nan, Annie Squib, to cancer last year.

"It’s the first year we’ve done it but it went so well we will continue to do it now.”
