Reward doubled in a bid to find rare coin

The owner of a stolen rare gold coin has doubled the reward for its return to £1,000.

The Henry VII gold 'angel' coin, along with a Dell laptop, were stolen from an address in Borden Lane, Sittingbourne, on March 9 this year.

The coin belonged to American tourist Hal McGirt who had left it with his friend for safe keeping.

A spokesman for Mr McGirt said: "Unfortunately nothing has materialised from the reward offer of £500 but as this was a very special find for Mr McGirt he has raised the reward to £1,000.

"This is more than the value of the coin in its damaged condition and more than the burglars could ever hope to get."

Anyone with information should contact police on 01622 604255.
