A 52-year-old woman was walking through the churchyard of St Michael's in Sittingbourne when a man who had been sitting on a bench tried to grab her bag.

When she screamed loudly the man ran off empty handed.

He is described as white, aged 25 to 35, 6ft tall, with black curly hair and was wearing a brown zip-up long-sleeved cardigan.

It happened between 3.30pm and 3.50pm on Thursday, July 28, but police have only just released information about it.
