Traffic jam after accident at junction five of the M2

Serious injuries have been reported following a three-car collision on a major route.

Drivers are blocked from leaving the M2 at junction five heading westbound after the accident.

Police were called to the scene on the A249 roundabout near Stockbury just after 1.30pm.

Paramedics have taken one casualty to Kings College Hospital.

Officers are currently on hand to direct traffic but drivers are advised to use a different route if possible.

People travelling to enjoying the bank holiday weekend will be frustrated with the tailbacks that have formed.

The incident has contributed to a day of chaos of the M2 coming just a few hours after another crash involving five cars on the coastbound carriageway which left drivers stuck in long queues.
