Sittingbourne boss Gary Abbott saw his side lose their unbeaten home record in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday

Gary Abbott is already looking ahead as he comes to terms with Sittingbourne missing out again on the Ryman League Division 1 South play-offs.

Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at Godalming extended their league run without a win to seven games.

Bourne boss Abbott (pictured) said: "I honestly thought we were good enough to get into the play-offs.

"If we had only played every Saturday, I’m sure we would have done it.

"I have already spoken to a couple of players about next season and have learned a lot about what we need to make us better and push on.

"Results against the bottom five made the difference this time, losing against four of them and only drawing against Walton Casuals."

On Saturday Sittingbourne play their final league game of the season, against Merstham at Bourne Park.
