Sittingbourne boss Gary Abbott wants to sign youngster Sam Collins.

The 18-year old midfielder, who was at Ebbsfleet last season, has joined the Brickies on a game-by-game loan arrangement from Cray Wanderers but Abbott hopes to make it permanent, after the home derby against Chatham on Saturday.

Collins, son of former Welling and Fisher defender Paul, made an impressive debut in the 3-0 win against Ramsgate at Bourne Park on Tuesday night, their first of the season in Ryman League Division 1 South but less than 100 were there to see it.

Abbott said: "Cray can call him back at any time but he has only got 20 minutes so far this season. I know his dad well, we had a long chat after the game and he says the boy just wants to play."

The Brickies boss rang the changes in midweek after the
4-1 defeat at Bognor on Saturday and confirmed striker Ellie Kayembe has been released after a fall-out between the pair at the weekend.

Ross Morley’s 40-yard effort put them ahead five minutes after the break, Joe Horlock added the second with Tom Bradbook getting the third.

Abbott said: "Overall it was brilliant and is what we are all about. That’s the way we want to play and it could have been five or six by the end.

"Billy Manners is ruled out against Chatham due to a one-match ban, after being sent-off in the FA Cup against Andover.
