Sittingbourne joint-manager Jim Ward warns defender Ashley Ulph to improve discipline after second red card this season

Sittingbourne joint-manager Jim Ward has told defender Ashley Ulph to change his ways or risk derailing the Brickies' promising form.

Ulph, pictured, was sent off for the second time this season following a two-footed lunge after 24 minutes of Bourne’s 3-2 win against Walton & Hersham on Saturday and Ward has ordered the left-back to clean up his act.

He said: "You can’t tackle with two feet like that these days, even if you win the ball, and that’s the second time he’s done it this season.

"It’s a bit early for me to decide what to do with him but he’ll be fined for a start. You just can’t defend what he did. If he calms down and stops having these rushes of blood he will be an excellent player."

Sittingbourne also had captain Jason Dolby sent off at the death but Ward was more understanding.

He added: "He’d already been booked and he’s taken one for the team because the boy was clean through and he’s had him over."

Brickies face a Kent derby at resurgent Whitstable this Saturday.
