By Hayley Robinson

A motorist suffered a black eye and a cut to his right eyebrow following a road rage incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information about the unprovoked attack which happened just after 3.15pm on Monday, October 12.

The victim, a 32-year-old Sittingbourne man, was driving a Renault Megane along Addington Road when he stopped at the junction with Park Road.

As he pulled out of the junction, intending to turn right, a silver moped stopped, the rider got out, approached the motorist and accused him of nearly hitting him.

The moped rider slammed the car door onto the driver’s legs and chest. The driver got out of the vehicle and was punched once in his right eye.

Investigating officer PC Heather Sears said: "This was an unprovoked assault in which the victim received a nasty injury to his face.

"It happened at a busy time of day on a busy road and we know from the victim that there were people who saw the incident.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen the moped and remembered even a partial index number, even if they didn’t see the assault itself."

The moped driver is described as 6ft 2in with short mousey-coloured hair. He was wearing a three-quarter-length high visibility jacket, blue jeans and a black helmet.
