Man hurt in Sittingbourne crash in High Street near old cinema at East Street junction

A motorcyclist is believed to have been injured in a crash in Sittingbourne High Street.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene this afternoon.

It happened at about 12.30pm outside the old cinema at the junction with East Street.

The male biker is believed to have been involved in a crash with a car.

A witness said he remained on the ground "for about 20 minutes" while being treated by medical teams.

Another passer-by said he was transferred to a waiting ambulance for further treatment.

The crash led to long queues for drivers in the in the High Street, although traffic was said to be flowing normally along Bell Road.

A man, thought to be aged 30, suffered back pain as well as a suspected leg injury.

He was treated at the scene before being taken by road ambulance to Medway Maritime Hospital.
