Parts of the Sittingbourne area have been hit by a power cut.

EDF Energy say the power went off just before 5pm today.

A spokesman for the company said it is assumed that heavy snow was responsible.

But because of the high number of calls they were receiving and the state of the roads, maintenance crews were yet to reach the scene by 7.30pm.

The spokesman could not say how many homes were affected but did say 38 calls had been received from customers about the outage.
