Sittingbourne Orpheus Choral Society celebrates 70th anniversary

Sittingbourne Orpheus Choral Society celebrated its 70th anniversary with a musical show spanning seven decades.

Well-known pop and rock ‘n’ roll tunes featured as well as Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast which was performed at the group’s first concert.

The performance took place at the town’s Highsted Grammar School.

The group’s second longest serving member Dot Mills, who joined in 1971, cut a special cake to mark the landmark anniversary.

Spokesman Denise Mayne said: “The concert was extremely well supported, with a great celebratory atmosphere, enjoyable music and delicious anniversary cake.

“Here’s to the next 70 years.”
