A new budget supermarket is coming to town.

Lidl will open its doors in April 2015.

It will be based in the former Focus store in West Street, Sittingbourne.

The Former Focus store will reopen as a Lidl in April 2015

The company was granted planning permission by Swale council in February last year for a 115 square-metre rear extension to accommodate warehousing and staff welfare requirements, plus changes to the car park, exit and entrance and shop front.

At the time of the application it was said the retail outlet would create an extra 14 jobs.

A company spokesman said: “Unfortunately, at this stage we cannot confirm the exact number of jobs to be created, but we can confirm that the building is being extended, with the new Lidl store due to open in April 2015.”
