Philip Goldson in court accused of racist attack on train near Sittingbourne

A 48-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with an alleged racist attack on a train.

Philip Goldson, of no fixed address, was arrested following an incident on the Sittingbourne to Sheppey service last Tuesday.

He pleaded not guilty to a racially aggravated public order offence at Medway Magistrates’ Court.

Passengers jumped to the woman's defence

He is accused of abusing a black woman who was on the train with her two young children.

Video footage of the incident shows several passengers becoming involved in a heated exchange.

Goldson was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
