Transgender wedding: Denise and Kristiana Taylor from Sonora Fields, Sittingbourne, renew vows

A same-sex couple, once married as man and wife, renewed their vows – both wearing a dress.

Denise and Kristiana Taylor looked pretty in white as they walked down the aisle at Judd’s Folly Hotel in Ospringe near Faversham this afternoon.

The pair, from Sonora Fields, Sittingbourne, first married in 1996 when Kristiana was called Stephen.

The pair both wore dresses this time.

Days after renewing their vows for the first time in 2012, 49-year-old Kristiana began her transition, living life as a woman after years of knowing something wasn’t quite right.

They wanted to have another ceremony, where they both got to wear a dress, in front of more than 50 guests.

There was violin accompaniment and a recital of the poem What You Mean To Me, read out by a friend, before midwife Denise began her commitments.

She said: "We came together as friends, you listened to everything I said and we went from friends to lovers.

"Fourteen years had passed and on Christmas Eve you bought me a dress - I didn't know you liked it yourself.

"You are my love, my life and my wife - together we stand hand in hand."

The stunning ceremony was well attended with media turning out from across Europe as the pair walked down the aisle.

With rainbow trimmings and bouquets, their dog Millie also wore a dress as she brought the rings down to the blushing brides.

Kristiana read out an emotional poem she had written about how she used to be a caterpillar, but is now a butterfly.

Their son Stephen, who is 14 and goes to Westlands, walked mum Denise down the aisle.

She said he had been a credit to them.

He said: “It's been great and I've been trying not to make them cry."

The ceremony was well attended.

The couple and guests also took part in Marryoke, filming a wedding music video to Let Your Love Flow by the Bellamy Brothers.

They will now enjoy an evening meal, cocktails and the bouncy castle.
