A village in Sittingbourne is now home to an abundance of lottery winners.

A total of 61 villagers living in Newington, located in the ME9 7 area, shared a £320,000 cash prize in the European Postcode Millions.

One player, Lisa Hammond, was the luckiest of the lot, scooping an incredible £160,000.

The 37-year-old took the lion’s share of the fund as she was the only person living in the full winning postcode, ME9 7HY.

The other residents were awarded sums ranging from £2,000 to £160,000.

Lisa, who runs Woodland Farm with her partner Jay, had been an avid player of the charity lottery for the past three years.

She had no idea how much she had won when the game’s representatives arrived at her address last Saturday and pulled her cheque from a gold envelope.

The couple have already decided on practical ways to spend their winnings.

Lisa said: “We recently bought the farm which we run as a business and our dream is to build our very own home on the grounds.

“I’m going to put the money away for a couple of years so that when we go to build our house we’ve got the money there to build our dream home.”

Lisa’s partner Jay is also resisting the urge to “spend, spend, spend” and said his only concession to the surprise windfall will be to splash out on a new lawnmower for the farm’s tractor.

The couple were also contemplating their first holiday for two years - to the Norfolk Broads.

Judie McCourt who presented Lisa with her cheque, said: “I’m sure that Lisa and the other 60 winners from Sittingbourne enjoyed a great weekend and celebrated their win in style.”
