Veteran charity fundraiser Dale Howting is well on target to raise £6,000 by the end of year, despite the recession.

The Whistling Postman has been busy collecting while on his static bike outside Homebase on the Sittingbourne Industrial Park and at Roman Square in Sittingbourne High Street.

The 75-year-old from Goodnestone Road, Sittingbourne, said: “In the year of the recession people are keeping our local charities going at the normal rate.

"I’ve put hours into this at our old friends Homebase. Without them and the Swale public we would not be anywhere near our possible £6,000 in November.”
