Would-be dog snatchers punch owner in face

THREE youths attempted to steal a woman's Jack Russell dog as she walked the animal at night in a public playing field.

Police say the woman's ordeal began moments after she entered Rectory Playing Field in Rectory Road, Sittingbourne.

As she entered the park she walked past a group of young people sitting on a bench close to a children’s playground.

She was suddenly grabbed by the shoulder and punched in the face. The offenders then pushed her to the ground and attempted to take her dog.

The victim suffered minor cuts and bruises but managed to escape. The incident happened on Saturday, August 25, at about 9.25pm.

The offenders were three males thought to be aged between 15 and 16 years. They spoke with local accents.
