The nine-year-old’s drawing will now appear on hessian holders which the new Tesco Express in Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne, will be handing out to customers.

In addition, store manager Jason Butterfield also presented her with a gift card for £25 and gave out 500 bags to staff and children.

Head teacher Diane Browning said: “When Tesco called us to let us know that Alescia had won the competition, we were delighted, but not too surprised.

“Her designs in art lessons are just as good and we’re sure that the bags will be very popular with the rest of the children, their parents and people in Sittingbourne.”

Mr Butterfield added: “Picking a winner was very difficult indeed, but we’re really happy with how Alescia’s design looks on our bags.

“Our customers have been telling us how much they like the design, and it’s great to celebrate the pride local people have in their community in this way.”

The store is open seven days a week from 7am until 11pm. Customer parking is available.
