A young martial arts star has made his dad very proud by earning himself a place in the England judo squad.
George Cullum, 13, of Eastwood Road, Sittingbourne, has been given a place on the England Cadet Judo Squad after his skills were spotted during a series of national judo competitions.
In February, the Westlands School pupil entered the North West Age Band competition and won a bronze medal.
He also came sixth in the Midlands Age Band Competition and was awarded a silver medal in the Spanish Age Band competition in Alicante in April.
He will take part in the England squad’s training sessions and from those may be picked to represent the country in national competitions.
George, who took up judo at the age of eight, has made his dad Dean very proud. He said: “I am as proud as any dad could be. He doesn’t get it from me. I don’t know that much about judo but he has done really well.”
