Young people have been praised for their hard work in helping to improve their neighbourhood.

Around 50 youngsters, most of them members of Kemsley Gloves Boxing Club, turned up to take part in an environmental clean-up.

Co-organisers, Swale Borough ward Cllrs Brenda Simpson and Sue Gent, and the council’s chief community officer, Peter Speakman, were amazed how hard everyone worked.

Mayor of Swale, Cllr Adrian Crowther came along to support the event.

Cllr Simpson said: “ It was great fun. People have always downed Kemsley, but this was something that showed that people can get together and make a difference.

“The area around the village hall looks fantastic.”
