Sittingbourne have high hopes for new signing Danny Leonard.

The young attacker arrives at Woodstock after coming through the Gillingham academy.

Leonard, who had a spell with East Grinstead last season, comes highly recommended by Gills youth coach Mark Patterson.

Brickies boss Nick Davis said: “I’d spoken to Mark Patterson about a couple of players in pre-season and then when Danny became available, he said we’d do well to sign him and that he should be playing a lot higher.

“He can play in a few positions - I think he likes that No.10 role best - but we’ve also played him on the right.

“We need to see more of him but he has a lot of pace, makes things happen and is technically good.

“He’s also been spot-on with his attitude and work ethic.”

Sittingbourne’s England Schoolboys star Josh Wisson is recovering after breaking his arm on trial with Leyton Orient.

Davis said: “I believe he comes out of plaster on August 17, so he’ll miss the first couple of games, but he’s been doing loads of running to keep himself ticking over and he’s raring to go."
