Sittingbourne have completed their squad with the start of the new Bostik South season now just over two weeks away.

Manager Nick Davis has assembled another young group including several teenagers as he embarks on his third full season in charge at Woodstock Park.

Davis’ most recent recruits are David Smith, former Leyton Orient forward Lawson Okameji, Lex Allen and David Adekoya, who spent two years at Aldershot.

Brickies hosted Tilbury on Saturday and beat the Bostik North side 3-1 with several of Davis’ new signings in the thick of the action.

He said: "Kane Rowland scored one, set up another and then got the free-kick for the third so he was involved in all three.

"David Smith scored and so did Lawson, the new recruit we’ve got who plays centre midfield for us.

"We went with 17 players on Saturday and that’s how we’re going to go now with under three weeks to go.

"It was a decent workout. We’re going how we would in a league game.

"Laurence Ball, Chris Elliott and Gil Carvalho weren’t available so we’ve got about 18 or 19 altogether.

"Tilbury finished in a similar position to us last year. I know their manager well, we’ve been in contact for the majority of the year and we had a pre-season there last year so we returned the favour this year.

"It was a great test. With one or two missing and not having a huge squad, you’re stretched in certain areas. One or two had to play out of position but it was a good workout and a good result."

Sittingbourne drew 2-2 with Welling Town on their 3G pitch last night (Tuesday) ahead of a game against Sheppey United on Saturday.

Davis said: "We still need to do some work. It’s never going to be perfect, there’s always things to work on and Saturday was only the second game that group’s played together.

"For 70 minutes, we were outstanding. I’m pleased with where we’re at. Now we need to go through some bits, patterns of play and set pieces.

"What’s been pleasing and it’s something we’ve worked on, is the fitness levels. We look fit and it paid dividends in the last 20 minutes.

"That’s going to be important, especially with the way we play.

"We expect a lot from a couple of our players, to be able to get up and down, which made us successful last year."
