Aslan Odev has told his Sittingbourne players to cut out the silly errors that are costing them dearly.

The Brickies have dropped into the bottom half of Bostik South East for the first time this season after five games without a win.

Their latest defeat came at Hythe on Saturday where they conceded a trio of terrible goals in a 3-2 defeat.

Manager Odev said: "Seven of the last eight goals we've conceded have all been individual errors, so that's something we've got to address.

"We've had a good chat about it and hopefully we can move forward.

"It's down to poor judgement and poor decision-making.

"All the players are good enough to play and make a difference but unfortunately we're making silly errors.

"Our last three games have been against Wingate, Folkestone and Hythe and if you make mistakes against those teams, they are going to punish you."

Goalkeeper Patrick Lee was at fault for two of the goals at Hythe but Odev is backing his No.1 to bounce back.

He said: "Patrick Lee has been brilliant for us but his decision-making has been a factor in the second goal and the third one could also have been prevented but it's not just him who could have played better.

"Goalkeeper is the hardest position on the pitch. Two mistakes as a goalkeeper can mean two goals conceded but if a striker makes two mistakes, it's not quite as severe on the result.

"Patrick knows he could have had a better game but I've had a chat with him about it."

Sittingbourne host Whitstable this Saturday, knowing a win would see them leapfrog their Kent rivals.

Defender Lex Allan is set to return from a knee injury but winger Gil Carvalho is suspended after being sent off on his Brickies return at Hythe.

Odev said: "I'm sure everyone knows what to expect when they play Whitstable and you have to manage that.

"They've built up a little momentum and have started to get good results, so we need to be wary of them.

"But it's like I've said in previous chats, if we play our game and match their intensity, there's no reason why we can't win the game."
