Air ambulance responds to crash on Appledore Road, near Tenterden

Four people are in hospital after a car hit a telegraph pole.

Two were taken by the air ambulance after the incident, which happened at about 3.10pm on Appledore Road near Tenterden.

As a result, there were reports of slow traffic between St Mary The Virgin Church and the garden centre.

A nearby motorist said he saw police, firefighters, the ambulance service and the air ambulance in attendance.

A police spokeswoman said: "Kent Police was called to a report of a single-vehicle collision in Appledore Road, Tenterden, at around 3.10pm today.

"Officers attended the scene where a car had been in collision with a telegraph pole.

"The road was closed to assist the South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex.

"Four people were taken to hospital with injuries, of which two were airlifted."
